Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、政治・社会変動および自然環境の変化の影響を多大に受けながらも、持続的な水利行政と制度を継続させてきた中央アジア社会の動態とその構造を解明する。中央アジアのオアシス社会は、騎馬遊牧民の度重なる征服やロシア・ソ連という帝国権力による大規模な社会変革を経験したが、そこに存在する強固かつ不変化な政治的、社会的、文化的伝統は、現代においてもなお生活の様々な側面で看取できる。本研究は、乾燥地域の社会の存立に不可欠な水資源を差配する水利行政に着目し、そうした強固な伝統の存在とその存続理由を示すものとなろう。
