Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、日本の博物館や研究機関に所蔵されている、カナダ極北およびアラスカを生活圏とする先住民である北方アサバスカンの諸文化由来の物質文化資料の所在と状態、日本の博物館等に収蔵された経緯などについて網羅的に調査し、それらの資料のソースコミュニティ（もともとその資料が収集された現地社会）にその情報を提供するとともに、そのコミュニティの成員を日本に招聘して資料と実際に「再会」してもらい、その資料や当該社会での伝統的物質文化に関する知見・情報を日本の研究者と交換・共有し、その成果をまとめてソースコミュニティと資料を収蔵する博物館の双方が活用できるようにすることを目指すものである。
