Outline of Research at the Start

The project focuses on research fields of great societal and scientific importance in Japan and a set of comparator countries (the UK, Germany and France). The project will combine bibliometric quantitative methods and detailed case studies to examine the opportunities and challenges of AI and pandemic upheavals, and contribute to evolving theories and developing conceptualizations of the production of scientific knowledge under conditions of transition.
