Outline of Research at the Start

複雑な地下構造を持つ関東地方において，過去数百年間に発生した地震の履歴を調べるため，既存の史料及び新たに収集する日記史料に基づき，史料の性質や記録された場所の信頼性の評価も加え，歴史地震研究において国際標準となりつつある震度データベースを構築する．これらと現代の震度データとの比較から，発生日時・震源の位置・地震の規模を推定し，Ｍ８級の関東地震及びＭ７級のいわゆる首都直下地震について，過去の発生履歴を明らかにし，将来の発生確率を不確定性とともに示す．
