Outline of Research at the Start

大規模な大量絶滅後に生態系がどのように復活するのか，その過程は依然として大きな疑問として残されている．北海道の根室層群では白亜紀最末期から暁新世にかけて完全な連続地層が露出する。本研究では植生を復元できる新しいバイオマーカーを活用して，大量絶滅で破壊された陸域生態系がどのように回復し，その後に繁栄していったかを解明する．また，海陸イベントの同時性や連動性もあわせて検証し，陸域と海洋の環境変動のリンケージを明らかにする．
