KeywordsHot liquid / Repellent surfaces / Wetting / Capillarity
Outline of Research at the Start

The adhesion of liquids can be significantly reduced by hydrophobic surface microstructures or by coating the liquid with hydrophobic particles to create liquid marbles. However, such surfaces usually fail to repel hot liquids. In this research project we will understand the mechanism of hot liquid adhesion and how to design surfaces that can repel all kinds of hot liquids.
