Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は，レーザー加工，マイクロ光造形，3次元プリンティング，レーザー励起ディスプレイ等，光によるものづくり技術において，光で物質を励起して構造を形成する際に有効な光の3次元的分布を制御するための技術を開発する．具体的には，物質に多数の方向から光を照射し，それぞれの光を計算機ホログラムで波面を制御することで，それらの光が重なり合う空間で，任意の3次元的な光分布を形成する．これは，通常の単一軸の光学系では，軸と垂直方向でしか回折限界の集光が出来なかったのに対して，この多軸光学系では，多数の方向で波長以下のサイズで光分布を形成出来るところに最大の特徴がある．
