Outline of Research at the Start

大型台風など突発的気象現象からの「強風」は、国内外に甚大な森林風害をもたらし、その被害規模は地球温暖化の影響により拡大傾向にある。しかし未だに森林風害に至る全プロセスは解明されておらず、森林・立木の耐風性評価や風害リスクの推定精度が向上しないという現状がある。我々の研究結果から、このプロセスにおいて、入力部では風から発生した「振動エネルギーは樹冠同士の衝突程度で変化」し、出力部では全ての根に力が作用するのではなく「力学的に優勢な根」が破壊を決定する、という仮説を立てた。本研究は動的かつ不可視であるこれらの要因を「音」から検出する新手法を開発し、森林風害に至る立木振動プロセスの解明を目指す。
