本研究は、以下の３つの問いについて国際貿易の枠組みにより統一的かつ計量的に分析を行い、自由貿易下におけるわが国牛肉産業の成長条件を明らかにするものである。
①貿易自由化はわが国の牛肉産業を成長させるか、それとも衰退させるか。
②生産費の削減や海外需要の拡大に関するわが国の取り組みは、自由貿易の下、わが国牛肉産業の成長条件となり得るか。
③自由貿易の下、わが国の牛肉産業の成長を下支えする政策は何か。
