Outline of Research at the Start

食性は、生物の生態的機能に関わる重要な性質である。食性進化のメカニズム解明により、生息環境に適応した生物の多様化過程を明らかにできる。我々は、様々なものを食べる広食性種が多いショウジョウバエ科において稀な、狭食性スペシャリストのハエ1種と、その寄生バチを発見した。本ハエは、春から初夏にかけて、植物Aから植物Bへと寄主転換する傾向がある。本研究では、本ハエが天敵寄生バチの密度変化に応じ、季節的に寄主転換する可塑的食性を進化させたと予測し、可塑的食性が維持される生態学的メカニズムとメリットを解明する。さらに、ショウジョウバエ科の系統解析から、ショウジョウバエ科における狭食性種出現の起源を解明する。
