Outline of Research at the Start

細胞が分裂する際に“遺伝情報を正確に継承させるメカニズム”は、精緻に創り上げられた生命の基本原理の1つである。このメカニズムは、分裂期紡錘体による染色体の均等分配を基盤とする。紡錘体の形成は、分裂期の開始時に適切なタイミングで分離した2つの中心体によって駆動される。この中心体分離が異常なタイミングで生じると、がんなどの疾患の原因となる染色体分配異常を引き起こすことが知られているが、その理由は未解明である。そこで本研究では、適切なタイミングでの中心体分離によって、精緻な染色体分配マシナリーがどのように駆動されているのかを解明する。
