Outline of Research at the Start

小児期には旺盛な成長を示し、多くのエネルギーが消費されながら体のサイズと機能がプラスの変化を遂げる。同じことが大人では起きず、子供でのみ生じる機構は明らかにされていない。細胞レベルでは、エネルギーの代謝は統合された分子経路によって遂行されるが、その様相には未知な点が多い。小児期の代謝は大人のものとどう違うのかを明らかにするために、先端技術を活用し、小児の活発な成長特性を担う分子機構を明らかにする。さらに、同様な分子メカニズムを標的とした分子介入を行い、臓器移植など限られた治療法しかない小児難病の新たな治療戦略を開発する。
