Outline of Research at the Start

気道において細胞老化は、ウィルス感染、喫煙、PM2.5などの様々な環境因子に繰り返し暴露されることにより誘導される生体反応である。老化細胞の蓄積は慢性呼吸器疾患の発症に関連するため、「老化細胞除去」が新たな治療法として期待されている。しかし1）老化細胞の不均一性や、2）分化、自己複製、再生などの重要な恒常性維持機構への影響の懸念から、臨床応用には大きな障壁がある。これらの課題を解決するため、本研究ではヒトの生涯において気道に出現する細胞老化を、シングルセル・マルチオミクス解析技術や3Dオルガノイド培養を用いて多面的に解析する。得られた知見は老化プロセスの理解や治療薬開発への応用が期待される。
