Outline of Research at the Start

敗血症は「感染症によって重篤な臓器障害が引き起こされる状態」と定義されるが、臓器障害に至るまでの病態は不均一で、画一的な治療法では予後改善を望みがたい。このため、敗血症患者を階層化し、階層ごとの治療指針を構築する必要があると考えられる。近年、敗血症における致死性メディエーターHMGB1には３つのサブタイプがあり、それぞれ異なる役割をもつことが報告されているが、申請者らはHMGB1の４つめのサブタイプの存在を見出した。本申請においては、この４つのHMGB1サブタイプに対する特異的抗体を駆使し、敗血症患者の階層化を行うとともに、階層ごとの分子標的治療の構築を目指す。
