Outline of Research at the Start

いまだ治療法が確立されていない希少疾患や小児分野の臨床試験では，必要十分な症例の確保は極めて困難であり，試験規模は必然的に小さくなる．本研究の目的は，小規模臨床試験のためのより優れた研究デザインとデータ解析法を開発し，医学研究者に向けた基盤整備を行うことである．具体的には，従来型の臨床試験と比べて必要例数を削減し，試験期間を短縮できるアダプティブデザインや，これまで実現できていない小標本バイアスを補正した統計解析法を開発する．小規模であっても効率的で妥当な統計手法を提供することは，限られた資源の中で新治療法の開発を加速させ，満足な治療が得られていない患者を救う大きな助けとなる．
