Outline of Research at the Start

特発性肺線維症(IPF)は、慢性経過で肺の線維化が進行し、予後不良な疾患であり、診断 確定後の平均生存期間は3-5年と極めて予後不良な疾患である。我々は、難治疾患細胞に核酸医薬を効果的に届けるドラッグデリバリーシステ ム(DDS)〔ユニットポリイオンコンプレックス(uPIC)〕の開発に成功し、このDDSのヒトに 対する安全性がすでに証明されている。最も効果のある候補ターゲット遺伝子をin vitro, in vivoでスクリーニングすることによ って、治療法のない線維症に対して最適化した核酸薬搭載uPICを同定し、画期的な治療薬の 開発する。
