Outline of Research at the Start	「人手不足」が深刻な社会問題になっている現代日本で、この難題解決のために採られた策が外国からの人材導入である。日本社会を支える彼らとの「共生」は日本人・日本社会が取り組む重要課題となっている。それにあたっての鍵を在留外国人の宗教である、とするのが本研究の立場である。彼らが来日後に自身の宗教施設を設けているのは、宗教が彼らにとって重要であることを示唆している。その重要な宗教（信仰）に対する日本人・日本社会のスタンスがどうなっているのかを、本研究は見極めようとしている。同時に、信仰によって結びついた在留外国人たちの集団の特性、またその時を経ての変質を見定めることも、本研究は課題としている。
