Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は麦積山石窟の窟龕221基に残存する壁画について考察し、文様様式例の細分と様式編年とに基づき、窟龕編年を完成させることを目的とする。補助事業3年の間、現地調査で窟龕データと資料の継続取得と、これらデータと資料の分析・系統化を図る。初年次と2年次は、研究の目的に述べた考古学の層位学の方法を適用して様式編年の大綱を構築し、麦積山の歴史的背景を考察する。3年次は、窟龕の天井形態や造像の組み合わせや立地など、他の要素をもって様式分類の可否を検証する。こうして様式編年の充実を図り、窟龕編年への実現に至る。研究の最終年度として成果をまとめ現地の研究所と内容を共有する。
