Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、中世日本における彩色材料の流通の様相を、現存美術作品の科学調査結果・歴史資料・技法検証から明らかにし、中世の美術制作環境の実態について考察する。文化財の修理・調査報告を見直し、彩色材料の時代的変遷や地域的特徴と、色材の流通状況や技法の変化を照合することで、その関係性を読み解いていく。これまで美術史分野で十分に活用されてこなかった修理情報や科学分析結果を美術史研究に還元し、美術史学と文化財保存科学を融合した総合的な学術領域としての「技法材料史学」の基盤構築につなげる。
