Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、敦煌莫高窟より発見された仏画のうち、英国・仏国・中国所蔵の10世紀の絹本画（銘文有）の基底材である絹（構造と絹目）の分析調査をし、その結果を法量や描画水準の分類表と照合して、当時の敦煌仏画制作システムを解明する。
具体的に、仏画制作体制が、注文主の身分や経済力によって、如何なる受注制作を行い、どのように作り分けていたのかを提示することを目指す。当該作品のうち、米国と日本所蔵作品の調査は済んでいるため、本研究では、英国と仏国所蔵および中国所蔵の作品計約20点を調査対象とする。その成果は、敦煌の性質解明に寄与し、西域及び東アジアの仏教美術制作の様相の理解にも貢献する。
