Outline of Research at the Start

南画は詩書画が融合した作品であるため、作品の興趣を理解するためには題画の漢詩文が読解が必要となる。そのため本研究では、画賛として題された漢詩文の精密な読解を行うことを基礎研究的作業として行う。
また南画を生活の中に飾り、愛玩するという文化が昭和初期頃までにはあったが、それはライフスタイルの欧米化とともに急速に失われた。この生活文化としての南画を解明すべく、江戸以来の煎茶文化をキーワードとして調査・研究を行う。これには南画が商品として売買されたという文化経済学的な視点を加味する必要があるため、東京美術倶楽部の販売記録等を調査・研究することも行う。
