Outline of Research at the Start	本研究の主要目的は、近世中期から明治期に至るまで、国学者が集団的・継続的に創作し続けてきた「掌編和文小説」（擬古文体の和文で書かれた、ごく短い物語形式の作品）のテキストデータベースを構築し、各作品の特質と史的展開を把握することである。従来、和文小説と言えば、中・長編の作品が注目されてきた。しかし、近世期を通して流派を問わずに作り出されてきた数多の掌編和文小説は、和文小説の主軸というべき存在である。そこで本研究では、①テキストデータベースの構築、②注目すべき作品の校訂・注釈・読解、③文学史的把握という3つのアプローチによって、掌編和文小説の全容を解明してゆく。
