『水滸伝』やその続書類の展開、また他言語による受容について、研究代表者がアジアやヨーロッパで重ねてきた調査経験や、過去のプロジェクトの成果等を生かしつつ、実態解明が遅れている近世後期のテキストを中心に研究を行なう。
