Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、英詩において長い伝統を持つパストラル）が、18世紀以降のイギリスで農民詩として再構築されていく過程を明らかにするとともに、20世紀・21世紀の詩人たちによって新たな田園詩の伝統として受容・変奏される諸相の分析を通して、近代イギリス農民詩の現代的意義を検証することを目的とする。特にイギリス・ロマン主義時代において農民詩人 として名声を得て、農民詩の流行と確立に重要な役割を果たした詩人John Clareを研究対象の核に据える。Clareの詩作品の分析及び出版動向の精査を通して、18世紀から19世紀にかけて顕著となる農村社会における都市出版文化流入と農村文化の変容の過程を明らかにする。
