Outline of Research at the Start	優れた遺伝子を増やし、劣った遺伝子を減らすことで人類の進化を導くとする「優生思想」は、人種、民族、障碍者、ジェンダーによる差別思想、メリトクラシー、ネオリベラリズムなどの競争原理の背後に戦後も生き続け、生殖技術の進化による命の選別は、新たな倫理的問題を提起している。女性たちは19世紀末からこれまで、この思想とどう関わってきたのか。本研究では「優生思想」と「フェミニズム」が孕んできた齟齬に着目する。優れた子を産み育てることと社会で自己実現を果たすこと、「生産」と「再生産」をめぐる女性たちの葛藤を英語圏文学のなかで捉えていく。
