Outline of Research at the Start	17世紀から18世紀にかけてのフランスの思潮についての研究は、本国フランスでは、合理主義を再考する必要性についての論議が高まっていることに加え、啓蒙か反啓蒙かという二項対立を越えて、多様な相貌の解明が求められている。一方日本では、反啓蒙や反近代という概念自体は定着したものの、その枠を越えた領域については大いに研究の余地がある。本研究では、啓蒙思想の基盤を作りはしたが、同時に啓蒙思想とは異なる方向を目指してもいた自由思想について、とりわけスピノザ哲学との関わりを通じて、考察をする。自由思想から啓蒙思想への変化の一部を明らかにし、モダニティの再考へとつなげていく。
