Outline of Research at the Start

構成素統御を用いて理論的説明が与えられる言語現象は、一致、束縛、移動、否定極性表現をはじめ多岐にわたる。構成素統御の説明力には長い間信頼が寄せられた反面、なぜ構成素統御がこれほどまでに文法の深奥に根差すのかが疑問として残っていた。本研究ではその答えを、言語の計算システムに隣接する認知システム群からのアクセスに求め、構成素統御が特徴づける構造的関係は、この探索メカニズムが情報を読み取れる最適な配列であるという可能性を追究する。この試みが成功する限りにおいて、構成素統御という構造的関係は概念的裏付けを与えられ、人間言語の基本的な特徴に対する原理的な説明理論の実現に近づくことができる。
