Outline of Research at the Start	裸名詞は、「children / 子供」のように、一般に限定詞や量化詞などを伴わず、それ自体で用いられる名詞を指す。裸名詞に関する研究は広範な関心を持たれてきたが、日本語の裸名詞が文脈次第で定的にも不定的にも解釈されうることについて統一的な見解は未だ確立されていない。本研究の目的は、裸名詞句と非裸名詞句に関して、冠詞の有無や形式特性を超えて、名詞句が果たす文中の意味機能に着目し、最新の意味理論と語用理論が裸名詞句と非裸名詞句の違いを、さらには非裸名詞句の下位区分をどこまで説明できるかを検討する。本研究の成果は、日本の英語教育・外国人に対する日本語教育の実践の現場に直接応用できる形で発信する。
