Outline of Research at the Start	tough 構文は、その派生方法と構造を巡って、生成文法をはじめとする理論的研究の興味を掻き立ててきたが、その壁は未だ厚く高いと言わざるを得ない。その一方で、近年、極小主義の枠組みでtough構文に対する注目が再び高まっている。本研究は、tough構文の共時的分析と通時的分析を理論的・実証的に検証することを通じて、同構文の「現状」が歴史的変遷の過程にあることを示し、通時的研究と共時的研究が真に有機的に連携する必要性を問い直したい。
