本研究では教育版画運動（1951から1990年代）を主導した大田耕士（1909から1998）旧蔵資料の分析を通じて①高度経済成長下の社会変化を子どもの生活目線から検討し、②開発・過疎化の裏側にある「歴史の掘り起こし」に光をあて、③教育版画運動が目指した公教育に対するオルタナティブの可能性と限界を探る。
研究の大きな独自性は、これまで本格的に調査されることがなかった大田耕士旧蔵資料の調査の端緒を開くことである。石川県羽咋郡志賀町が所蔵する大田旧蔵資料には、版画集・ 版画文集600冊以上、日本教育版画協会活動資料、大田耕士個人資料等を3,000点以上が含まれており、特にこの資料を調査対象とする。
