Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は満州事変から日ソ戦争までの日ソ関係を一次資料に基づいて捉え直す包括的な研究である。そのために、ソ連の対日・極東政策に重点を置きつつ、日ソ両国の外交戦略及び軍事戦略を対照させて対外政策の立案・実行過程を連続的に捉える。外交研究では、中央及び地方の様々なアクターたちの立場を明らかにし、スターリン期のソ連の対日戦略を多面的に描出し、日本の対ソ戦略と比較する。軍事研究では、ロシア帝国軍首脳部の対日姿勢とソ連期の軍事政策の連続性を究明しつつ、当該時期の対外政策における軍事的要素の位置を実証する。日ソ関係の変動を総合的に分析することにより、北東アジア地域の秩序の形成と変容を新たな角度から検証する。
