Outline of Research at the Start	日本列島において被り物を装着する習慣は７世紀後半の律令制度導入を契機とすると考えられる。しかし古墳時代に製作された人物埴輪には、円形鍔を有する帽子状や丸帽状など、多様な被り物を装着する姿を確認できる。こうした被り物は中国正史や「職貢図」など、当時の日本列島の服装関連記事には見られず、系譜も明らかになっていない。これまで取り上げられた人物埴輪を対象とする議論において、主な論点は衣服であった点を踏まえ、本研究では、特に被り物に着目した調査を行う。本研究における被り物に関する調査結果と、衣服に関する研究成果を照合することで古墳時代の服装を総合的に把握する。
