Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は日本医学史研究にジェンダー視点を導入することによって医学史を読み替える試みである。
具体的には①江戸時代の女性医師に関する史料を網羅的に調査・収集し、彼女たちが広く活躍していた実態を可視化するとともに、その医療活動が江戸時代の庶民医療環境の向上のために重要な役割を果たしていたことを実証すること、②江戸時代の女性医師の活動がなぜ埋もれてしまっていたのかを明らかにすることをめざす。
上記の課題のために、東アジアや近代日本の女性医療従事者の活動との比較研究も行う。
