Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は、開明的官僚・政治家・実業家・社会運動家として多彩な活動を行った大江卓（高知県出身、1847年～1921年）と、その伝記を著した雑賀博愛（1890年～1946年）が残した関係文書の分析を通して日本近代史研究の方法論に新しい可能性を提示する。すなわ伝記作者が収集した史料と伝記主体者そのものの関係文書の総合による歴史的事実の検証である。収集資料は整理と目録化、解読と入力を行い、共同研究を組織して学術的価値を見出し、広く歴史資産として国会図書館憲政資料室において一般への保存公開の措置を講じる。そのうえで関連する市民団体、内外の研究者と連携して国際シンポジウムを開催して、その意義を普及する。
