Outline of Research at the Start

本研究の目的は、近世の東日本における鉄の生産拠点であった仙台藩を事例に、18世紀後半以降繰り返された鋳銭事業(鉄銭の鋳造・発行事業)が地域にもたらした環境史的・社会史的な変化を実証的に明らかにすることである。具体的には、当該期の仙台藩における鉄生産の変遷を、１．それと連動して生じた流域の環境的変化を視野に入れた地域環境史研究、２．資源問題や環境問題の影響を受けて進む鉄・砂鉄生産技術の変容を捉える技術史的研究、３．鋳銭事業のもとで影響を受けた鉄製農具の生産・供給に関わる社会史的研究という広がりのなかで実証的に明らかにすることで、産業史的・産業技術史的な枠組みにとどまってきた既存研究を捉え返す。
