Outline of Research at the Start

日本には、明治・大正・昭和にかけて、朝鮮貴族という身分が存在した。韓国併合時に爵位を得て帝国〈日本〉に編入された旧大韓帝国の高官たちである。華族と同一の礼遇を受け、一部は貴族院議員にもなっているが、日本近代史研究では等閑視されてきた。本研究の目的は、宮内庁宮内公文書館所蔵の貴重史料を整理・データ化するとともに、これまで憶測で語られてきた朝鮮貴族の実像を解明することにある。具体的な問いは、①韓国併合時に彼らはどのような基準で爵位を授与されたのか、②初代が亡くなった後にいつ誰が爵位を継承したのか、③朝鮮貴族だった者たちは戦後どのような人生を送ったのか、の3つである。
