Outline of Research at the Start

本研究では、大宰府・観世音寺と西海道の寺院・僧尼との関係、大宰府による対外的・国内的危機への宗教的・軍事的対応、入唐僧・渡来僧の大宰府管内での宗教活動について考察することにより、大宰府の宗教政策の特色を明らかにするとともに、九州における信仰拠点の形成過程を解明する。
調査研究では、文献史料だけではなく、遺跡・遺物の検討や現地調査を行い、文献史学と考古学が協業することにより、制度と実態の両面から大宰府による宗教政策の影響や信仰拠点の地域的な特徴にせまる。
律令国家の宗教政策における大宰府の役割や、信仰文化での九州寺社の位置づけを明らかにし、東北地域を対象とした宗教政策との比較研究を行う。
