Outline of Research at the Start	紀元一千年紀シルクロードによる交易を独占していたイラン系のソグド人は有名で，彼らの歴史についても研究の蓄積がある．本研究はソグド語文献を専門にする申請者が，これまでの蓄積を取り込んだ上で，21世紀以降に発見されたり，新たに解読されたりした紙文書および碑文などの文字史料だけでなく，墓室内のレリーフなどの図像資料を取り込んだ上で最新のソグド人の歴史を提示することを目指している．新しく発見されたり，新たに解読されたりした資料の研究には申請者自身が携わってきているので，単なる解読研究に留まらず，そこから新たなソグド人像を提示することは，長年ソグド語を研究してきた申請者の責務であると考えている．
