Outline of Research at the Start

近代においてイスラーム教育は、国家との関係性において、またムスリム・コミュニティの規範的な価値観との関係で、どのような社会的役割を果たしてきたのか。本研究は第二次世界大戦後のアルジェリアでアラビア語やイスラームを教授した私立学校（自由マドラサ）の建設運動に着目し、植民地体制の中でどのような人々がマドラサ運動を支えたのかを明らかにする。学校建設に資金提供した実業家や学校生徒・卒業生、教師たちが、自由マドラサからどのような広い意味での「利益」を得たかのを解明することで、自由マドラサによって得られる社会関係資本が、経済的機会とムスリム・コミュニティの社会倫理の再生産の双方につながっていたことを示す。
