Outline of Research at the Start

本研究は、19世紀以降のオスマン帝国の近代化改革による伝統的社会の変容を公教育制度の導入により新たに誕生した「子ども」という視点から明らかにする。オスマン帝国社会における学齢期の子ども、幼児、孤児などさまざまな「子ども」の実相を探り、彼らの変化を分析することにより、近代オスマン社会の階層構造とその変容を把握したい。そのためトルコ共和国への史料調査を行い、公刊史料に加えて日誌類のエゴドキュメント等の収集と分析を行う。以上の作業を通じ「子ども」の誕生がイスラムの伝統的教育や家族観にどのような変化をもたらしたかを研究し、オスマン帝国史研究に新しい解釈と枠組みを提示することをめざす。
