Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は、1960年代、70年代にアメリカの海外援助の柱であった平和部隊とその国内転用たるVISTAプログラムを史的に検討することで、今日へと続く現代アメリカの生成を論じるものである。ここでは、平和部隊・VISTAから看取される20世紀中葉におけるボランタリズムの変容や新しいグローバルな貧困観の問題、そして、当初冷戦下の対外政策として始まった同事業が国内の貧困対策としても推進されたことの意味、さらに、従来の福祉国家の文脈が失われていく1970年代以降もこの事業が継続したという事実、これらの切り口から分析を進めていく。その際、アメリカ現地での徹底した公文書・一次文献調査を実施することとする。
