Outline of Research at the Start

本共同研究では、19世紀後半から20世紀にかけての日本と北米の歴史を複眼的に視野に入れつつ、一定の場所にとどまらなかった人物や、一時期存在したがその後継続しなかったコミュニティなどの歴史的事例を集めることによって、これまで近代国民国家を中心軸に据えた日本史、北米史では捉えきれなかったトランスパシフィック世界の人間の活動や生存戦略、繰り返される移動、国境を超えて想起される文化共同体や国内の敵として破壊されるコミュニティなどの歴史を動的に掘り起こす。
