Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は先史・古代の織物や糸などテキスタイルの実態解明のため、我が国における紡織技術導入開始時期である弥生時代の分析検討を行う。実物のテキスタイル資料が極めて少ないなか、列島各地から出土した土器の表面に残る布目の圧痕遺についてシリコンによるレプリカを作成して観察・分析し、織り密度に大きく影響する糸の特徴・成因、さらに織り方に注目する。列島各地における紡織技術導入開始時期の糸作りは、縄文系の技術により製作していた可能性が高く、その技術は現在も日本各地に残る。遺物の分析成果をもとに各地の紡織民俗例や現生の糸素材である植物繊維の加工・精錬の調査分析、復元製作実験を総合して当時の布の実態解明にせまる。
