Outline of Research at the Start

これまで数多くの骨化石が発見され、博物館に収蔵されてきた。形態情報を保持する標本は、その学術的価値に基づき、研究・教育分野で広く活用されている。一方で、これらと同時に発見・収蔵されてきた断片的な骨化石は、分類や同定の限界から、学術的な活用が難しいのが現状である。本研究では、形態情報だけでは種同定の難しい骨化石に対して、タンパク質のアミノ酸配列を解読するための新規技術を開発し、これまで学術的に注目されてこなかった化石試料に新たな学術的価値を付与するための研究を行う。
