Outline of Research at the Start	近代染織品の文化財としての重要性の高まりに伴い、保存修復に関わる研究が求められている。こうした近代染織品の保存修復・展示に関わる課題として、染織品に用いられている合成染料自体の外的要因に対する堅牢性の低さに加えて、当時まだ確立していなかった染色法にも問題があったことが考えられる。本研究では、日本における合成染料黎明期であった明治期（1868-1912）に刊行された染色技術書の調査・分析を通して、当時用いられていた染料名や染色法を明らかにすることを目的とする。また、あわせてこうした技術書に貼付されている染色見本を対象に科学的調査を行う。
