Outline of Research at the Start	アフリカ南部半乾燥地域は地上降水量観測点がほとんどなく、衛星降水量データの検証も不十分なため、降水活動の実態把握やその現象理解が進んでおらず、予測技術も未だ発展途上である。そこで、本研究課題では半乾燥地域のひとつである、ナミビア共和国北中部地域を対象とし、現地に展開されていた地上雨量観測網データ、衛星降水データや大気再解析データを組み合わせることにより、降水量の季節内変動及び、降水システムの日変化特性の解析を行い、降水量変動と降水特性の詳細な実態を明らかにする。また、その変動をもたらす大気循環場の解析を通じ、降水システムの時空間スケールの多重構造を明らかにする。
