Outline of Research at the Start

滋賀県長浜市に伝わる小原籠はイタヤカエデなどの広葉樹を利用して作る籠で、籠の一般的素材である竹が生育しない高地・寒冷地でしか見られない貴重な民俗技術である。しかし、近年は製作者の高齢化や材料入手が困難であるといった課題をかかえ、技術伝承が危ぶまれる状況が続いている。
そこで本研究では、広葉樹利用が盛んであった他地域の山間部で調査を行い、その利用の歴史と現状を民俗誌として描き出すことを目指す。これにより近年の山の過少利用が、人びとの生活にどのような影響を及ぼしているかが明らかとなり、現代的な課題になっている山と人の適切な関係をめぐる議論にも接続される成果が得られると期待できる。
