Outline of Research at the Start

近世天草は、その多くを幕領預所として支配されてきた。通常とは異なる幕領支配が行われており、特に、郡中の村役人や地役人が支えることが多かった。その影響は郡中社会にも及んでおり、大庄屋たちは本領・富岡役所との架橋となる動きをしている。本研究では、郡中での「訴え」に着目し、郡中社会と支配者側との接点を、村役人らの調整機能から探っていく。また、支配者側との有機的な関係を包摂して、近世天草の支配の実像に迫る。
