Outline of Research at the Start	本研究は、出発点においてロシア革命およびソ連共産党の圧倒的影響力のもとでコミンテルン各国支部として創立された共産党が、その後の歴史の中で自由民主主義社会へどのように、またどの程度まで適応しえたのか、その過程に影響を与えた要因は何かを日本、イタリア、フランスの三か国共産党の歴史的比較研究によって明らかにしようとするものである。三か国共産党の歴史を各国政治や国際政治の環境のなかで比較研究することによって、共産党が現代民主政治においてどのような位置を占め、どのような役割を果たしてきたのか、共産党は自由民主主義社会に適応しえたのかという問題に総括的な結論を出すことが本研究の目的である。
