Outline of Research at the Start

英語圏カリブには、主に奴隷制への公式謝罪や賠償を求める運動がみられる。だがこの運動は、日韓など他の多くの事例と比較して、市民の間の認知度や支持が極めて低い。運動は知識人や政治指導者によって継続的に行われているが、彼らと市民の間に大きなギャップが存在するのである。本研究は、政治指導者の思想、市民に対する意識調査、英語圏とスペイン語圏キューバとの比較という３つに焦点を当て、このギャップの理由を明らかにすることで、賠償運動を過去の事象そのものではなく、現代社会の文脈で捉え直すことを試みるものである。
